What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are synthetic eyelashes applied individually to each natural lash creating full, beautiful, natural looking lashes. It is a painless, relaxing treatment and you may even find yourself falling asleep! Your appointment will take 1-2 hours depending on how many lashes are applied.
How long do they last?
The eyelash extension lasts the life of your natural lash. When your natural lash sheds in its natural cycle, the extension will fall out along with it. I recommend refills every 2 to 4 weeks to make sure your eyelashes always look lush and full, as by this time some extensions would have fallen out as new lashes have grown through. Taking good care of your lashes will also ensure the longest lasting extensions possible.
What is the difference between classic and volume lashes?
Classic lashes are when a single lash extension is placed on a single natural lash. This creates a thicker, longer lash much like mascara without the smudge! Volume lashes are when a handmade 'fan' of several thinner lashes are placed on a single natural lash. This creates a much fuller, fluffier lash, making the lash line appear darker and more defined. A 'Mixed Set' uses both classic lashes and volume lashes.
Will extensions damage my eyelashes?
No, not when applied correctly. At Lash Studio Margaret River, special care is taken to ensure all eyelash extensions are applied properly and to individual lashes to maintain the health of your eyelashes. Lash extensions are customised so they are the right weight/length for your natural lashes. Looking after your lash extensions will keep your lashes healthy so you can continue wearing your lash extensions for as long as you wish.
How do they feel when wearing them?
The extensions are very light and are applied to your lashes not your lash line, so you won't be able to feel them. Most clients will use less make-up when wearing lash extensions, and you will find you don't need to apply mascara.
Can I swim with my extensions?
Yes! The only time you need to avoid water is the first 24 hours, and 48 hours for swimming. Then you can get them wet all you like - your eyes will always look amazing, even straight out of the shower!
Before my appointment - How should I prepare?
To ensure you get the most out of your treatment time, it is important that some things be done prior to arriving for your appointment:
Please remove all eye makeup and face creams with a foaming/soapy, oil-free cleanser
Avoid waterproof mascara for 2-3 days before your appointment
Avoid oils/oily creams around the eye area for 1-2 days before your appointment
Try to avoid caffeinated beverages before your appointment
Eyelash Extension Aftercare
Though easy to maintain, proper care and maintenance will ensure the life of your lash extensions
Keep your lashes dry for at least 7 hours (24 hours is ideal)
No swimming, steam rooms, saunas or facials for 48 hours
Use only water based makeup removers and cleansers. Oily/creamy products will shorten the life of your lash extensions
A foaming/soapy cleanser MUST be used on your lashes at least 2-3 times a week. This will keep your lashes healthy, your extensions lasting longer and prevent build-up of natural oils and makeup
Avoid rinsing your face directly under the shower stream. Instead bring water up to your face using your hands
NO waterproof mascara. Water based mascara may be used on the tips of your lash extensions
Be gentle - avoid rubbing, touching and playing with your lash extensions
No eyelash curlers to be used while wearing your lash extensions
Lightly brush your extensions after washing your face to ensure they remain straight and in line with your natural lashes
Don't forget to pre-book your eyelash refills at 2-4 week intervals to keep up the fullness of your lash extensions. Most clients come in every 3 weeks
